Join Tim Mosler, Art Randolph and Nick Alicea as they examine medical professional liability (MPL) insurers’ recent financial results, the forces driving those results, and contemplate what may lie ahead for the MPL insurance industry.

Presenters:

Timothy C. Mosler, FCAS, MAAA, is a Director & Consulting Actuary with Pinnacle in the Atlanta, Georgia, office. Tim has been in the property/casualty insurance industry since 1996 and has been providing actuarial consulting services since 2001. His long consulting career has focused on several lines of insurance including medical professional liability, workers’ compensation, general liability and commercial automobile. Since 2007, Tim has been a member of the CAS Member Advisory Panel and in 2013 he was named to the CAS Committee on Health Care Issues. He is a past member of the CAS Examination Committee.

Arthur R. Randolph II, FCAS, MAAA, CPCU, ARM, ARe, is a Principal and Consulting Actuary with Pinnacle, managing the firm’s Atlanta, Georgia office. He has been in the insurance industry since 1998 and has been consulting since 2001. Art's consulting career has focused on medical professional liability, homeowners, workers’ compensation, commercial and personal automobile, general liability, and commercial multi-peril exposures. He is a member of the AAA Medical Professional Liability Committee and the Alabama Actuarial Council. Art is a past member of the CAS Examination Committee and the CAS Program Planning Committee, and served as President & Director of the IABA Foundation.

Nicholas E. Alicea, ACAS, MAAA, is a Consulting Actuary with Pinnacle in the Atlanta, Georgia office. He holds Bachelor of Science degrees in Actuarial Science and Statistics from Florida State University. Nick has considerable experience in assignments involving Loss Reserving, Rate Filings, Funding Studies, Loss Cost Projections, and Risk Margin Calculations. He is a primary contributor to projects involving medical professional liability and underground storage tanks.
