Join Nick Gurgone and Kristen Marshall as they cover the basics of warranties. Nick and Kristen will detail how actuaries and captives can be utilized to add value for warranty programs of all varieties. Warranty industry data has demonstrated how valuable it can be to offer warranties to customers. While warranties might not immediately strike one as innovative, there are a number of unique and novel ways to structure a warranty program.

Nicholas Gurgone, FCAS, MAAA, is a consulting actuary with Pinnacle Actuarial Resources in our Bloomington, Illinois, office. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in actuarial science from Illinois State University in Normal. Mr. Gurgone has worked in the property/casualty insurance industry since 2015. Mr. Gurgone has experience in assignments involving loss reserving, funding studies, loss cost projections, captive feasibility studies, commercial lines ratemaking and group captives. He has worked with pricing and loss reserve analyses for captive insurers writing enterprise risk coverages and group captive insurers writing commercial multi‐peril, workers’ compensation, auto liability, general liability and auto physical damage coverage. He also assists in developing and updating industry benchmarks by analyzing industry databases.

Kristen Marshall, ACAS, MAAA, is a senior actuarial analyst with Pinnacle Actuarial Resources in the Bloomington, Illinois, office. She holds a bachelor of science degree in actuarial science from Illinois State University. Kristen has experience in assignments involving loss reserving, funding studies and captive feasibility studies. She has worked on analyses for group captives, enterprise risk captives and risk retention groups. Kristen has also served on multiple research teams and helped update industry benchmarks.
