Bloomington, Ill. – Leading actuarial consulting firm Pinnacle Actuarial Resources, Inc. (Pinnacle) has announced that Director and Consulting Actuary Laura Maxwell has been named principal and consulting actuary, effective January 1, 2026.

“I am pleased to congratulate Laura on becoming Pinnacle’s newest principal,” Managing Principal Roosevelt Mosley said. “She has been an exceptional leader, at our firm and within the actuarial profession, with decades of outstanding service to both our clients and our industry. Maxwell has worked in the property/casualty insurance industry since 1987. She joined Pinnacle in the firm’s San Francisco office in 2006 from another consulting firm and with previous experience at an automobile insurance company, state insurance department and national rating bureau.

Maxwell currently leads the firm’s functional Supervisor and Professionalism Key Management Areas. She is the appointed actuary for numerous insurance companies and serves insurance departments, captive insurance companies, self-insured public entities including cities, counties, school districts and state underground storage tank funds. She was named a director and consulting actuary of the firm in 2021.

Maxwell is a widely recognized thought leader in the actuarial consulting industry, with a long history of service to the profession. She has served on many Casualty Actuarial Society (CAS) and American Academy of Actuaries (AAA) committees and has been instrumental in ensuring that Pinnacle remains on the leading edge of actuarial procedures and practices.

Maxwell currently serves as chair for the CAS Casualty Loss Reserve Seminar (CLRS) Planning Committee and as general officer on the Syllabus and Examination Committee. She also currently serves on the AAA Committee on Professional Responsibility. Maxwell is a Fellow of the CAS (FCAS), a Member of the AAA (MAAA) and a Certified Specialist in Predictive Analytics (CSPA).
